Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free, stand-alone, downloadable multiplayer game in which players wage war as Axis or Allies in team-based combat. It's a team game; you will win or fall along with your comrades. The only way to complete the objectives that lead to victory is by cooperation, with each player covering their teammates and using their class special abilities in concert with the others.

IMPORTANT: Patching to v2.60b requires you two files, NOT run them from the download! Open the download and select the files from your corresponding operating system.
The default location of the files to be replaced is:
C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\
many servers run modifications to the game and require there own seperate install. Many Mods exist. Ensure you read the readme files for full instructions.

Most servers run custom maps which you will also have to install if you want to play them.
• Maps go into your etmain folder.
(some maps require there own mod specific files to be installed... read the readme files!)
• If you try to enter a server with custom maps and get a memory error then go to the console by pressing tilde ( ` ) and type:
-press ENTER after each line
-press tilde to remove console

Some servers have fast http downloads set up which means you can actually download many mods and maps automatically when joining a server and Punkbuster theoretically should update automatically. The reality is not all servers have fast downloads available and Punkbuster doesn't always update itself well after a fresh install of a game. Also, some mods can't be installed via a server download. This is why I've explained the above.
