S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl v1.0006 patch info 
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is a 2007 FPS (with RPG elements) developed by the Ukranian developer GSC Game World and published by THQ. Unfortionately there's no consistancy with patches. Depending where you look the latest patch can be v1.0004, v1.0005 or v1.0006

The THQ (AU) site provides the v1.0004 patch

Steam gives out the 1.0005 game version

Many say that the so-called v1.0006 patch was never official. It was definitely made..
The guys over at STALKER Hispano have found some patch files on the FTP at GSC-Game Worlds website. So far it appears that the Russian, US, and WorldWide versions of the 1.0006 patch are finished.

It hasn't been officially released by GSC/THQ yet, but if its on their FTP...

So, it was developed but only partially published!

The 1.0006 patch appears on the GSC Game World Russian STALKER site..

If you search the net you will also find it on a few gaming sites (including this one, see below). The Russian readme translates to the same as the English one. Another thing to back up this "offical" patch is a line from the readme..

I've decided to host the 1.0006 world wide version of this patch as it's compatible with the Australian install.

NOTE: The patch is to be installed only on game version 1.0005!

Saved games from 1.0005 version will work with 1.0006 version.

Connecting to the server will be possible only if the host's version of the game is the same as yours.

Multiplayer game changes:
1. Fixed crashes connected with memory allocation.
2. Fixed crashes upon disconnecting of the client, who didn't have the map used on the server (when using a game MOD).
3. Added uptime parameter to the dedicated server info, indicating the time of uninterrupted server functioning in days, minutes and seconds.
4. Fixed crash connected with the shooting from the grenade launcher.
5. Fixed crash connected with dropped/eaten item.
6. Fixed crash connected with starting new game (for example, upon map changing).
7. Fixed crash connected with joining to the server upon map changing (the client respawned on the old map, while the other players already switched to the new).
8. Fixed bug with killing the players when too many players appeared on the base when the round started.
9. Fixed bug with killing the player when throwing a grenade.
10. Fixed bug with player's invisibility when putting armor on.
11. Fixed bug with entering invalid commands in console.

Multiplayer game additions:
Added BattleEye option (Anti-Cheat system:
1) Protects network packages and the server;
2) Used only with the Internet server;
3) Added servers filter to the "Network game; Server" and "Network options" menus;
4) Uses automatic Internet updates.

Some things to note:

-you only need the 1.0006 patch if you're interested in multiplayer
-at the time of this post (May-2010) there were 26 online servers running and they were ALL v1.0006

Apparently there's a way to patch the Steam version to 1.0006 but I'm unable to confirm.
