[MOH] thoughts and info on Medal of Honor 2010

The up-coming Medal of Honor is utising two game engines. Unreal Engine 3 for singleplayer and Frostbite engine for multiplayer. I don't know of a game that's done that before. I love both engines so I'm keen to see how this plays in both singleplayer and multiplayer. I really enjoyed the singleplayer element of Battlefied: Bad Company 2 and would have liked the news of this new Medal of Honor using the same Frostbite engine for its singleplayer. Apparently the Unreal Engine 3 will be heavily modified so some surprises may be on the way. Either way I'm confident it'll be a winning game for many. But who will like the singleplay and multiplay?

Even though DICE have stated people shouldn’t expect a clone of Bad Company 2 for Medal of Honor’s multiplayer it doesn't look like good news for me with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 players getting awarded in Medal of Honor with early access to the M24 sniper rifle so it looks like the MP aspect of this games will use a similar stat-unlock-award system to the Battlefield series which I've never liked. Why penalise newbies??

[PS3] I've had a look into the dark side ?
Sunday, 25 April, 2010, 03:57 - >PlayStation 3

Well I bought a PlayStation 3. For gaming? No... but I was curious to see what gaming was like on a console. I have had quick goes on PlayStation 3s and Xbox 360s before but they just didn't grab me. My genre of choice is shooters, specifically 1st person. With console controllers I just can't aim. When I say this I really mean it. I'm appalling and embarrassing at the same time.

I was in the market for a home entertainment package and of course required a Blu-ray Player. Learning that the PS3 was a Blu-ray player and can be used as an excellent media center (after listening to the TOG Games Industry Podcast - Episode 7) I including one in the package.

I'm impressed so far with the entertainment package but won't bore people about that. Now I had my own PS3 I could get to see what games I could play on occasions that weren't shooters. To be 100% sure with my lack of ability to play console shooters I downloaded some demos... ouch painful lol.

I remembered being impressed with how my nephew played Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth II on the Xbox 360 so I know there was potential for me to find something console-ned-friendly.

To keep things brief I now have three games in my collection.
(not including some Crash Bandicoot classics for my wife)

Fight Night Round 4
-recommended by a good gaming buddy TUB Baldy

God of War III
-I got after playing the demo

WipEout HD
-I got this after hearing about it in the TOG Games Industry Podcast Season 2 - Ep 19 and downloading the trailers.

I like what I see so far. There are games out there that I can enjoy on a console... just NOT shooters. I'm looking forward to playing these more especially WipEout HD multiplayer. I'll comment further of these games sometime soon..

DeadCity updated to vpk12 on both servers.
(previously Campaign/Versus and Survival were seperate .vpk files, now together)
-thanks to TOG Unknown-

Silent Fear v1.0 added to the test server.
Five randomly placed glyphs are required to be found to unlock the path to the finale in this Silent Hill themed map. One bug to note is if someone dies, rescue them before you activate the next glyph. Looking for something different? This is it!

eyeonus has updated his Hunter Training map with a quick fix, v3.5.1. His recently released v3.5 wouldn't start up in singleplayer mode (mulitplayer worked fine).

From the changelog..
v3.5.1
Fixed bug causing Single Player loading via menu in L4D1 to fail.

// MAIN & TEST SERVERS

• Updated Hunter Training to v3.5
-Removed overlapping brushes and various other errors from Live Fire Course.
-Added three more Hunter Spawn Rooms.
-Made C18 more difficult by adding two more floors (The "V" and the "Man") and making half the walls fail-ports.
-Changed the "Diamond" floor in C18 to "Star".
-Added fail-port destination to bottom of C18 so that players don't have to re-do the floor bit if they screw up the ceiling pounce.
-Dimmed the lighting to reduce glare

Please note this version breaks the ability to play this map in singleplayer. I suspect eyeonus will fix this soon.

// TEST SERVER

• Added Silent Hill 1 v7.1 by Leafo

This campaign is an epic journey! I believe it's a direct port from the original Playstation game and not a Silent Hill themed set of maps.

Note from the author..
Do not download this if you do not like; Puzzle solving, getting lost or exploring the maps.

It took 3-4 of us (myself, Thermal Ions, Unknown and Racer X) over 4 hours to complete... AND the help of Thermal's pro-google skills in sloving some of the puzzles! The BOTs need some work and it's currently a little buggy but it's worth a run. Be prepared to spend some time on it though!

I'll probably add this one to the main server soon..
