blog and server update

BLOG

I've combined the downloads and extras sections together. Now you can find gaming info, links and downloads on the one page. I'm still slowly progressing through the old forum and transferring everything over to the blog. Hopefully I'll finish it all soon.

SERVER

Most of you know my server has been offline (not it's own dedicated connection) since I moved house. While offline I decided format the drive. I also had an opportunity to upgrade it.

My old system:
ABIT NF7-S2G
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Kingston RAM 1GB

New server thanks to my brother upgrading:
Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
Veritech RAM 2GB

I'm hoping to have a dedicated connection for the server in the next few weeks.

stay tuned!

[FC2] binding keys in Far Cry 2 multiplayer
Saturday, 27 December, 2008, 04:22 - Far Cry
Posted by ned
One of annoyances I found with Far Cry 2 was the key-binds that I setup only worked for singleplayer. When playing the multiplayer portion of the game, only some of the binds would work. Using the standard binds looked to be the only answer which to many is very annoying particularly if you are very used to specific binds like I am for nearly every game I play.

BUT, OS|Wendigo posted a fix on the Ubisoft forum - link -

-start the game
-login to multiplayer
-enter a server (probably easier to just create your own)
-go to options menu - controls
-select defaults and re-map your keys

cheers OS|Wendigo!

Far Cry 2 version at time of this blog entry is 1.02

[MOH-A] How to save your Stats, Medals and Badges!
Wednesday, 24 December, 2008, 07:11 - Medal of Honor
Posted by ned
Saving all of your Stats etc in 'Medal of Honor Airborne' is quick and easy. If you're reinstalling the game for whatever reason then you may want to do this, particularly if you are progressing through your medals and wanting to add more to the excellent re-play value of this game. One of the best singleplayer games of all time in my opinion.

Click here -> Gaming Info and Links (ned's extras) and go the the Medal of Honor section for info on how to do this.

[D3] EMZ news
Thursday, 18 December, 2008, 08:23 - Doom
Posted by ned
simulation has been busy working on his Doom 3 multi-player mod, Enhanced Militarized Zone (EMZ).

The EMZ mod give players and server admins a much more configurable version of Doom 3. What I like most is the server side of things. Server admins have greater control of the elements of Doom 3 multi-play thus making EMZ a great competition mod for any number of players and with all the gametypes.

updates are:
• fall damage cvar for admins
• increased functionality of the dedicated server console

Both of these updates get a big 'Thank You' from ned ;]

Details are on his development blog - http://www.the-emz.com/blog -

[VC] Vietcong servers coming soon
Saturday, 25 October, 2008, 23:21 - Vietcong
Posted by ned
Vietcong is one the most underrated and overlooked FPSs ever released. Yes its release in 2003 saw some significant issues but these were quickly patched. This class based game gives us an awesome singleplayer experience and a variety of multiplay game modes including co-op. Wide-screen is supported and with todays systems you can play the game in it's full glory.

• Official site (google translated from german)
http://translate.google.com.au/translat ... %26tl%3Dde

• Developed by PTERODON

• Australian Fan Site
http://auscong.com

Two expansion packs were released. Fist Alpha and Red Dawn.

FIST ALPHA
The add-on offers a single player campaign, new maps and new multiplayer game types. As far as the new weapons are concerned, we can mention the M-14 gun, Claymore mines or the Russian machine gun named Degtarev DPL-2.

RED DAWN
The second official add-on for Vietcong, which was released on the Internet for free and on several gaming magazines throughout Europe. Containing one new single player mission, Vietcong Red Dawn features an all-new "cooperative (COOP)" experience in the multiplayer mode of the game, in which the player takes the role of a Vietcong unit, fighting through completely new multiplayer maps. This add-on was developed in the spare time of our employees, and was published in March 2005.

The Multiplay modes are quite diverse. The usual Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Last Man Standing modes are there, there are a couple of varieties of Capture the Flag, an objective style gametype called Assault Team Game where both teams have different objectives and Co-op where it's a squad of humans on a mission verses the game!

Patches and Red Dawn free download - here -

notes:
• Vietcong must be patched to v1.60 before installing Red Dawn (Fist Alpha doesn't matter)
Backdoor.Ranky notifications when you try to load v1.01 of the game are false-positives
-patching the game fixes this issue

Initially I want to look at the co-op mode then progress from there.

I've set up three basic servers:
-Vietcong
-Vietcong Fist Alpha
-Vietcong Red Dawn

Vietcong 2003 trailer

HradBa anti-cheat v206 is enabled on the server. Vista users cannot join due to a false positive with directX 10, more details soon. HradBa v206 can be downloaded from the server and will be available to download from this site soon.

===

Vietcong: Purple Haze was a pack released that combined Vietcong with Fist Alpha.

Vietcong 2 was released in 2005
(at this stage I won't be settting up a server for VC2)
