[MOH-A] how to access to the sniper rifle in the demo!
Monday, 27 August, 2007, 05:52 - Medal of Honor
Turns out we can use the sniper rifle in the MOH Airborne demo with a little bit of 'tweaking'.
Thanks to TOG|303 for bringing this to my attention. Found - here -

Here's what you have to do.
• enable console
• use the ghost command to get to where the sniper rifle is located then get back to the action

Here's how.
1) Right-click the Airborne Demo desktop icon, select Properties

If you don't have a desktop icon then go to the demo install and create a shortcut ie. right click MOHADemo.exe - Send To - Desktop (create shortcut)
default location is...
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Medal of Honor Airborne Demo\UnrealEngine3\Binaries

2) Go to the Shortcut tab, look for the Target: line.
3) the line will end with: \MOHADemo.exe" (including the " mark). Add a single space after the " , then type in: -enableconsole
4) The line should now look something like this (first part may be different depending on where you installed it): "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Medal of Honor Airborne Demo\UnrealEngine3\Binaries\MOHADemo.exe" -enableconsole
5) Click Apply, the OK.
6) Start the demo.
7) Once in gameplay, press the tilde key ( ~ ) to bring up the console.

8) Upon landing, use the ghost command in the console (press tilde (~), type ghost, press ENTER) and goto the area where the demo ends. Follow the road till you come to the dead end with the barbwire and in the building right beside it, there is aMG42 in the window of the first floor, you can go up the stairs and find a Springfield sniper rifle laying on the floor with a beam of light shining down upon it. Go back to the action and use the ghost command again to take part in the game.

I recommend going to the roof tops to test the sniper rifle :)
note: press your jump key to hold your breath to stabilise the rifle.

This is now my favourite sniper rifle! Before this, the one from FarCry was my favourite. I love the scope and zoom action and the non-toggle aim setup. I do however think the damage is too high. For singleplayer this is ok but it will be terrible in multiplayer. I was getting kills when I deliberately shot legs.

Only time will tell us how it will be in the multiplayer!

TIP:
-you can enable an FPS counter by entering the console and typing stat fps
-to turn off simply type it in again

[MOH-A] Airborne demo notes
Saturday, 25 August, 2007, 08:44 - Medal of Honor
After playing the Medal of Honor Airborne demo - link - i have to say this is going to be a nice game.

For those who haven't looked at it yet...

• very generous on older systems
no lag for me at all, played on default settings
AMD 2500+ XP (overclocked)
1GB RAM
6800GT (defaults)
• beautiful graphics
• ironsights work well
movement took a bit to get used to
-can't move while using ironsights unless you press your Sprint / Ironsight Move button
-no lean unless using ironsights
-no prone
-crouch toggle movement only
After the initially feeling foreign, shooting with all weapons felt good with the MP40 being my favourite. Pistols are very effective too. Rifles were the hardest to get used to but again, once adjusted they were great! I had to reduce my ingame mouse sensitivity right down to be accurate with anything.

I LOVED THE "TING!" SOUND WHEN YOU GET A HEADSHOT ON A HELMET WEARING AXIS ;P
i hope that's in the multiplayer!

TIP for CoD players!
double bind your Strafe / Peek Left and Right keys
ie. A Q & D E
rebind Use key to F

bugs

º the game wouldn't let me use the mosewheelup to select pistol and mousewheel down to grenade cycle
(i selected these ok in the menu but they wouldn't work ingame)
º i couldn't select alt-weapon ?

I'm VERY keen to see the multiplayer in this game. I don't think it will take most people long to adjust to the movement differences compared to other big titles.

some notes:

Game-Types
Airborne will ship with 3 game-types out-of-the-box at release: Team Deathmatch (TDM), "Airborne" TDM, and "Airborne" Objective.

The first two are very similar. In Team Deathmatch, both teams spawn on the ground and compete for kills. The winning team is the one with the most kills at the end of the time limit, or the first team to reach a pre-determined kill (frag) limit. In Airborne TDM, the twist is that while the Axis still spawn on the ground, the Allies now spawn in the air, and parachute in to wherever they choose on the map. Axis forces will be able to shoot at the Allies as they drop in, however there is a form of protection logic in the game. More about that in the Gameplay section.

Airborne Objective is poorly named, as it has very little to do with the classic Objective (OBJ) mode we all know from previous MOH's on PC. It is instead more like BF2's method of flag-capturing, or COD's Domination mode. In Airborne Objective, there are 3 flags on the map, the Axis spawn on the ground, and the Allies spawn in the air. 1 flag is in the Axis spawn, 1 is on the other side of the map (referred to as the Allied spawn/flag for simplicity), and 1 is centrally located. The flags at either end of the map only need 1 player to capture them, by standing in close proximity for several seconds. The flag will change colour (red for Axis, blue for Allies) depending on who controls it, and there are 3 circular indicator icons at the top of the screen which change colour in the same way to show progress/ownership of the flags. The middle flag requires 2 players to be there at the same time to capture it. The winning team is the one to capture and hold all 3 flags simultaneously. With players working properly as a team, and the Allies' ability to airdrop into whatever area they desire, this mode can be a lot of fun. Teamwork is essential however, as you won't survive long as a lone-wolf.

... along with new weapons, some new maps are also already in development, and part of the plan to be released sometime post-launch. ...

... New game-types are also part of the plan to add additional new content to Airborne through future patches and updates. ...

[MOH-A] Airborne Demo Fixes
Saturday, 25 August, 2007, 06:52 - Medal of Honor
Here is a list of fixes for some common issues with the recently released Medal of Honor Airborne demo. I found the list - here -

Problem: The game will stop installing at the Ageia physics driver phase.
Fix: Some people have tried reverting to the previous Ageia physics driver and the game has installed fine after that.

Problem: Windows Vista 64-bit officially not supported.
Fix: Although it's not supported, many people with this version of Vista are able to install and play the game just fine.

Problem: The game is speeding up and everything is moving very fast.
Fix: If you have AMD, try disabling dual cores and/or download the AMD Dual Core Optimizer. Some have also said that uninstalling the Bioshock hotfix will correct the problem as well. Also, update your PC drivers.

Problem: The point-of-view is spinning and spiraling out of control.
Fix: This seems to be peripheral-related. Remove any joystick or other USB related device. Try unplugging and replugging in your mouse and keyboard.

Problem: When the demo is unpacked, your PC will reboot.
Fix: When extracting the demo you'll see a path which you can't change. Go to that location after the computer has rebooted (you might have to turn the option "show hidden files/maps" on). "MOH Setup" will be temporarily located in a TEMP folder called "RarSFX." It seems that this bug had somthing to do with the change between WinRAR vs. EA installer. --Thx, Calle.

Problem: During gameplay, screen goes black, audio still playing.
Fix: Minimize game, check system tray for errors regarding video drivers. If so, go into into nVidia control panel (or ATI equivalent), manage 3d settings, select MOH Airborne, and on multidisplay /mixed-GPU accerelation, set it to single display performance mode.

Problem: PC will freeze/lock up after a few minutes on Nvidia card users, and/or with dual core processors.
Fix: Download nhancer and disable dual core. This might help those high end machines that are jamming up. Disabling SLI (tickbox) in the nVidia control panel may help some others.

Problem: I'm getting a laggy response in-game, and my CPU usage is up near 100%.
Fix: See if you have any video software suites for a camcorder or other video device. Try to uninstall it. Including, but not limited to: Cyberlink DVD, PowerCinema NE, PowerProducer 3, PowerDirector 5, Digital Photo Navigator 3.0

Problem: I've tried almost everything and am still getting lag or mouse-lag in-game.
Fix: Although it sounds simple, take some time to keep unplugging/re-attaching your mouse AND keyboard (especially if it's a Logitech G15). This is causing issues for some users, and removing them, then plugging them in again has fixed the problem for some.

^^ I had the G15 keyboard issue.
now I can play the demo!

[CODUO] new map for nedUO server - Island Assault raw
Saturday, 25 August, 2007, 06:35 - Call of Duty
I've added a custom map to the nedUO server. Island Assault raw by FireBall1 supports all the available gametypes :]

This is an island map based loosely on the battle of Tarawa. It has trenches, shell craters, bunkers, and a tunnel complex under it. The tunnel complex helps keep the germans from getting pinned down on the tail end of the island. It also has sniper trees! These are palm trees that the layer can climb and snipe from. It has only one tank for each side so the bases will be have to be destroyed by bazooka fire.

There is a drowning script in the water around the pier to revent underwater sniping.

[MOH-A] DMW anti-cheat support!
Friday, 24 August, 2007, 08:21 - Medal of Honor
===

As I type this I'm downloading the Medal of Honor Airborne demo ;p

===

It Looks like DMW (Developing Multiplayer Worlds) will be helping out with anti-cheat
- http://dmwworld.com -
DMW are proud to announce that in collaboration with Electronic Arts we will be supporting Medal of Honor : Airborne in our upcoming product DMW Pro.

The release date for DMW Pro and support for Medal of Honor : Airborne will coincide with the release dates from Electronic Arts. All features of DMW Pro will be available for Airborne, and DMW will continue to support you with all DMW and cheat related issues.

These guys started out with providing the MOHAA community with some sort of playable structure in a game that was filled with hackers. EA released MOHAA with no anti-cheat support. Whilst DMW wasn't user friendly and sometimes painful to utilise it was/is effective. An impressive element to DMW are their knowledge databases.

I much prefer Punkbuster myself from a server admin AND client perspective. I hope DMW will work with PB meaning PB can be enabled while DMW is working. If I end up running a server for this I'll run PB with DMW... if possible.

This is going to be interesting to see how PB and DMW will work within the one game.

...now bring the demo to me please ;)

[MOH-A] MOH Airborne gets Punkbuster support!
Monday, 20 August, 2007, 09:54 - Medal of Honor
15-Aug-07
Electronic Arts Inc. has contracted with Even Balance, Inc. to integrate PunkBuster™ Anti-Cheat software into the game Medal of Honor: Airborne. We will soon be opening a section on our website to support PunkBuster™ for Medal of Honor: Airborne™.

Good games EA! I probably wouldn't have bought the game if there was no PB suport... now I definitely will be. I may even fire up a 24/7 server for it :)

Now to wait for the demo...

[ET] nedET servers down
Monday, 20 August, 2007, 09:47 - Enemy Territory
I've turned off my ET/RtCW server. I had a great time playing and working on the server... thanks to all who joined in! Simply put, it wasn't being used the way I wanted it to be.

It's time for me to move on to a different game.
It may be Medal of Honor: Airbourne... time will tell.

ET will always be a great game ;]

[SOF2] Extended mod available for download
Saturday, 18 August, 2007, 08:10 - Soldier of Fortune
The last version made of the SOF2 Extended mod was v1.11 This version looks to be very hard to find to download especially as the mod's website no longer exists. The previous version (v1.1) can be found but not this most recent version. Due to the site being down and the unavailability of this mod and the fact I believe it's well worth playing, I've decided to host it. SOF2 Extended has some nice admin options, clean HUD, and a well balanced real-damage option plus more. It's primarily designed for competeion play.

See - here - for more info including download link.
